About Jonathan Langerman

I am a Person with a Disability (PWD) man, of Christian belief serving as an elder in a local church. I was born with Cerebral Palsy affecting me, physically on my right side. As a result, I attended a special needs school Muriel Brand School in my formative years. From the age of nine years was attending Farrarmere Primary School. Completing my school career at Benoni High School. Today, I am a well-adjusted adult. There is very little sign of my disability, only slightly evident in my speech and my right arm. I am independent, able to drive a car, carrying a Code 08 Professional Drivers Permit License. I worked a fixed-term contract at a bank, following that I managed in the family business Cottage Cafe. It was a position at Macowire which I succeeded in as an industrial buyer. I learned a great deal and gave me the freedom to grow into the position. Employed in advertising and pursued a journey in an advertising agency. Employed in an administrative position at the agency. Responsible for Black Cat, Peanut Competitions, and KTV game shows. I traveled and work overseas in the United Kingdom and travel to Europe for a year. I worked in various bars, hotels, and Sainsbury’s group. For the majority of the time that I was there working in London. Returning to South Africa I moved to Cape Town. I started my business ‘Busi Bee’ were out of necessity not being able to find work. I started a small business transporting people; developing a strong client base. I moved to Benoni, to assist in renovating the family home. Once completed, I took a position for a year in Pinetown at Brian Roberts Agencies. Returning to Benoni I worked odd jobs and started businesses due to lack of work. I left Jolly Brite to pursue my studies in Psychology. I completed my degree in 2015 and will continue until I complete my post-graduate studies. This is when I found my niche in this world, working for UNISA. Volunteering as a Peer -Helper then offered various contracted positions. Employed as Assistant student Counsellor and later as a Student Advisor. This allowed me the structure. I needed and the freedom to explore and discover; how I may add value to the organization. Mentoring me, on how to work within a structure. Working with management to create value for myself and the organization. I have learned some invaluable lessons. Wherever I have worked the experience, has shaped my professional journey. The experience gained has allowed me to discover, different aspects and levels of all organizations.
