I have over a decade of professional experience including over 5 years of accounting experience. I have worked in corporate accounting and public accounting. In public accounting, I have experience with monthly bookkeeping, excise tax returns, commercial tax returns, personal tax returns, estate and trust tax returns, payroll tax returns, and various accounting projects. My professional resume is peppered in with some international teaching experience and backpacking across the world and I have been to 6 continents. I can be analytical and love being able to solve complex puzzles with data, but also love the thrill of developing relationships and making connections with people. have had opportunities to work with a diverse public, negotiating solutions to problems, providing empathy and understanding, and when necessary, calming intense emotions including 2 years volunteering on the suicide crisis line. Throughout my experience working with the general public, it has been my goal to connect with customers and colleagues and leave them with a positive, courteous, and professional impression of both myself and the organization I represent. I am computer literate with experience in all the Microsoft Office products. I have mastered advanced functionality in Excel such as complex formulas including if-then formulas, sumif, countif, vlookups, hlookups, Pivot tables, sorting, subtotaling, text-to-columns, find and replace, and much more with real-world experience applying these skills to large datasets to solve problems. I have good mastery of Word for writing letters, memos, communications, and correspondence as well as extensive experience with PowerPoint preparing school and university lectures for Chinese students and professional lectures for workshops in accounting. I also have deep knowledge of Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks online. I work regularly with Thompson Reuters suite of tax preparation software.
