About Jonathan Lott

I was a Coastal Engineer turned Science Teacher and Coach, then quit teaching full time and combined part-time jobs as a substitute teacher, tour guide, motor coach driver, and stage hand. I was forced by unforeseen events to slow way down to just one full-time job as a Waikiki Aloha Ambassador, spreading Aloha on foot in Waikiki. Now I am happily back to being a Civil Engineer, working for the Hawaii Department of Transportation Highways Division, doing traffic monitoring. I am nonetheless a car-free promoter of sustainable personal transportation-especially bicycling and pedestrianism. Former serious endurance athlete, now much less serious about competing and much more serious about encouraging others to experience the outdoors, and then become protectors of the environment. Active volunteer with Hawaii Bicycling League and Tradewind Cycling Team, and still involved in the cycling and running community on Oahu. Ocean sports enthusiast, hoping to find more time to surf and dive. Committed to DEFEND HAWAII from ignorance, greed, corruption, and short-sighted thinking!
