About Jonathan Maust

My proudest achievement to date is my volunteer work with the Veteran’s Legal Assistance Program at SIU School of Law. I was a charter member and case manager. My responsibilities included communicating with honorably discharged wounded veterans, assessing their cases and determining the likelihood of receiving increased benefits. I conducted research and drafted all documents to present to my supervising attorney and the Department of Veterans Affairs on the veteran’s behalf. My experience working with the public gave me the ability to empathize with the client's plight. My organization skills helped me research and draft legal memorandum in an efficient manner. My supervisory experience helped me bridge the gap between the client's request for additional compensation and the veteran's administration's position that the matter was resolved. Through the work of all members, the program recovered hundreds of thousands in owed compensation to clients, it also received numerous awards and honors from various legal institutions and state wide publications. I am honored I was able to give back to those that served and I learned valuable lessons concerning the legal profession.
