About Jonathan Mitchell

I am the Founder and President of Concentric Development Inc, a non-profit dedicated to helping non-profit organizations and government entities become more effective at promoting human flourishing. My academic preparation in physics, public policy and international environmental management combined with more than 25 years of experience in the international development industry have given me unique perspectives on what is effective in the long term and how to measure the impact of poverty alleviation and development efforts. Over the course of my career I have worked for a broad spectrum of development organizations that include Mercy Corps International, the Aga Khan Development Network which has been at the forefront of development innovation in South Asia, as a Senior Education Advisor for USAID and as a Senior Education Scientist for the International Development Group at RTI International. These experiences have enabled me to observe and participate in the international development industry from a wide variety of perspectives and solve complex public policy problems. I have has extensive experience in economic development program design and implementation, localization and policy reform at local, regional and national scales. In addition I have used my analytical skills to design and implement complex monitoring and evaluation programs for organizations such as the Aga Khan Development Network, the European Union, World Bank and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
