About Jonathan Olson

I am currently a Security Officer for Denali Universal Services, formerly Doyon Universal Services, in Valdez, Alaska. While I enjoy security work, I am currently trying to get into the oil and gas industry to use and continue increasing my knowledge of process industries. I have obtained an Associates of Applied Science: Process Technology from Kenai Peninsula Community College, and loved the knowledge and skills passed on from my professors. I wish for the opportunity to learn more, and apply what I have learned. While I am focused on the oil and gas industry I am however looking to expand my knowledge to other processes. To expand my knowledge I have taken up an interest in the water treatment processes. I have obtained 6 Continuing Education Credits from the American Water Works Association by completing their Water Treatment Operator 1 Course. Currently I am trying to obtain a Water Treatment Level 1 Operators Certification in both Alaska and Washington State. While my past employment has not been in the oil and gas industry, it has taught me valuable skills that I can bring with me. I have learned personal relations with fellow coworkers, customers, and the general public. Working for the State of Alaska as a Public Safety Technician, and for Denali Universal Services as a Security Officer, has taught me to communicate accurate information clearly and concisely both in written and verbal forms. Working for the State of Alaska as a Public Safety Technician and an Emergency Firefighter has taught me the value of a good hard day’s work, both independently and as a part of a team. As an Emergency Firefighter I was subject to many a dangerous situation and learned to spot unsafe situation, work practices, and be able to communicate them effectively to other individuals and team members.
