About Jonathan Padavatan

Experienced Astronomy Presenter with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. I strive to achieve excellence in science communication. I believe that we can only understand challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation and conflict if the public engages enthusiastically with the beauty, rigour and complexity of scientific endeavour. People come to the planetarium to be inspired. I have learned that I can only deliver on this expectation if I am inspired by working beneath the stars, sharing the awe and wonder of what science reveals about our universe. As Senior Technician I am responsible for the upkeep of all audio-visual equipment including an 88 year old, 2 ton Zeiss star projector. The optics and associated star field apparatus are irreplaceable so the highest care is necessary to maintain the beauty and integrity of the star field. A steady hand and tranquil mind are essential for working with a system that interfaces modern and heritage equipment. Strong information technology professional skilled in Python, Physics, C++, and C, Linux systems and nuclear physics data acquisition.
