About Jonathan Petz

I am an experienced Software Engineer who enjoys writing clean and testable code. I also like to push the boundaries and innovate whenever and wherever I can. That can take the form of trying out new frameworks, libraries, tools, or trying to improve a process. If I see a process that is slow, I take the time to understand the process and try to improve it or automate it. As a Software Engineer, I make sure that I am writing clean code, so that anyone reading my code can understand what it is doing without any additional explanation. Just because I am able to understand my code today, doesn't mean that an entry level engineer is able to tomorrow. My belief is that ugly code generally costs more in the long run than code that is more understandable and cleaner. If my ugly code can execute a few microseconds faster and save a few dollars on compute a year, it will cost more for another engineer to sit there and try to understand my code if an update needs to be made.
