About Jonathan Ramnauth

My inspiration starts from early childhood, watching my father building his personal computer, to later helping my father fixing his cars, I had figured out early that the general art of putting things together was the sort of thing I loved doing. Throughout my youthful days I was known as the "tech kid, car guy and Mr-Fix-It". During my high school years, I took part in various robotics competitions like FIRST Robotics and VEX robotics alongside my peers having fun while learning practical skills. It was these final years of high school that inspired me to get into the STEM field. Being able to push my skills to broaden my experience and continue to add to my skill set was definitely the path I wanted to go through. My professional career got ignited when I got accepted into the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Humber College, working towards an advanced diploma. These three years further cemented my decisions that I had made the correct career choices. After my second year I was able to get "my feet wet" with the college Co-op program securing a position as a junior engineer. This made me realize how important hands on work experience really is. Even the experience having fun competing on the high school robotics team proved to be invaluable experience that I was able to greatly benefit from. Having understood the importance of hands on experience, I decided again that I wanted to push my knowledge base to further add to my skill set by applying to a University. My credentials at Humber College allowed me to enroll in the Bachelor of Technology degree completion program at McMaster University. Taking the Manufacturing Engineering program was the move for me to build connections, add to my critical thinking skills, and in the end gain a degree in engineering. I am thankful to all the teachers and professors for their teaching and guidance throughout my academic years and giving me that inspiration to be in the STEM field. I wish to be able to also inspire the younger generation to go after that career that you were "born to do".
