I am a police sergeant with Lehigh Township Police Department. I have several specialties within the police department. I am a K9 handler and certify, along with my Belgium Malinios, through the National Police Canine Association yearly. We certify in narcotics detection, obedience, patrol, and building/open area searching. We are also trained in tracking. I also have extensive training in Collision Investigation and Reconstruction. I have a specialty in motorcycle collision investigation. I have reconstructed several serious and fatal crashes. Two defendants received lengthy prison sentences due to in part my collision reconstructions. I have submitted several reports as to the causation of crashes and forensically mapped numerous crash/crime scenes. I am a licensed Pennsylvania State Inspection Mechanic and have performed safety inspections for post-crash as well as regular safety inspections for vehicles that travel on our roadways. I am skilled in traffic enforcement. I frequently instruct classes on using various speed timing equipment, which I assisted in creating the curriculum. I also engage in traffic enforcement of commercial vehicles specifically in overweight violations. I also monitor traffic crash trends and citation trends and make suggestions to reduce traffic crashes based upon a data-driven approach. I assisted in creating a Community Traffic Safety Committee within Lehigh Township. In addition, I am a coordinator for a grant received through Penn DOT for Police Traffic Safety. I manage 18 municipalities covered by 14 police departments. This grant covers impaired driving, aggressive driving, occupant protection, and pedestrian enforcement. I also frequently instruct impaired driving-related classes. I am one of the department's field training officers and taser instructors. I possess certifications in SCUBA diving and rescue diving.
