About Jonathan Sanders

I am a teacher of people, and not simply subjects. In 1993, I graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in history and a desire to go into academia. An education class at the University of Missouri a year later introduced me to a wise professor emeritus who told me that my gifts were better used for the education of children. Thirty years later, I am glad I took his advice. My teaching experiences have led me to serving adults as well as children, in settings that range from elementary to high school, in urban and rural settings, to even the most challenging and most needy students at a juvenile detention center school. Currently a Library Media Specialist, I consider myself a teacher to the core and still offer my love of learning in the classroom teaching Social Studies, English, and educational technology. I achieved basic Google Teacher certification and am working on becoming a Google Certified Educator. As a librarian, I have presented professional development to the Midwest Educational Technology Conference in St. Charles, Missouri, have attended the American Association of School Librarians national conferences three times, and have been authored winning grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Innovative Technology Education Fund. Teaching is my passion, and a great teacher is one who can reach learners of all ages and in all settings.
