About Jonathan Slattery

Over the last number of years I was a part of the founding team at ConX, a startup that aimed to help construction contractors digitize their processes. Like all good startups ConX went through many iterations and pivots but ultimately we found success by providing software to small & medium sized construction contractors helping them with their takeoffs and estimating. ConX raised seed capital in 2017 and we were acquired by Houzz in 2021 where the team still works building out the construction arm. I cut my teeth at Indeed before joining ConX in a sales capacity. The team quickly realized the smiles and dials approach was not going to work for us. We became disciples of the Product Led Growth playbook built on the back of an amazing Customer Experience. Through thick and thin we were on hand to learn from and help our (not so tech savvy) customers get what they needed from ConX and that paid dividends far beyond the $59 a month we got in subscriptions. Since moving over to Houzz I have been a part of the Product Marketing team and it has been an incredible experience to see it from the other side. Going from a scrappy start up to being in a process driven org with fire power to achieve some of our wildest ambitions. One of the many things that has stood to me coming from a startup is understanding the importance of profitability. The wolf was always at our door and I am convinced the only way to achieve long lasting and meaningful growth is through happy customers. I believe in that and have been applying it to my professional life going forward, with every happy customer we set the wolf back a couple of paces and live to fight another day. I have a passion for all things Product Led Growth and UX/UI. I love the construction industry which takes a lot of flak, some deserved and some not, for being behind the times but we are coming up like a rocket and there is a deep blue ocean out there for everyone trying to solve industry problems and increase efficiency. Outside of that I was a rugby player before the body insisted I pack it in, I now fill my hours with swimming, cycling, running and golf. It was and still is a wild journey which I would love to tell you about either virtually or in person so let's connect and make it happen.
