About Jonathan Stearn

Jonathan is now retired, but busy volunteering with Ocean Youth Trust Scotland as a Director and Volunteer Skipper. He also coordinates and instructs on RYA navigation theory courses and practical cruising courses, is the Chairman of the OYT Scotland Safety Committee and a member of the Training Committee. He is a highly motivated, knowledgeable and pragmatic professional, with integrity. When working as a geophysicist he had a record of exploration discoveries and the successful development of large, structurally complex fields through the application of appropriate geophysical technology and interpretation techniques, fully integrated with the geology and reservoir engineering data. He has experience with major operating companies in the North Sea, Middle and Far East, and as a consultant has also worked projects in many other parts of the world. He was appointed Baker Hughes Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Geophysics in 2011 and the RDS Global Discipline Head for Geophysics in 2014. He also has extensive experience of leading and supporting ancillary company activities including project management, quality management, knowledge management and ICT hardware and software portfolio management.
