About Jonathan Tyson

I help create competitive advantage in biotech by integrating IP, R&D, and market strategy. By combining deep scientific expertise with a sharp instinct for commercial positioning, I work to turn overlooked opportunities into assets that advance both science and business. I have helped to shape IP strategy across advanced biologics, cell and gene therapies, nucleic acid therapeutics, and more — spanning both target-specific products and enabling platforms. Embedded with R&D and business teams, I identify and position IP to capture and create market opportunities, prioritize resources toward the highest-impact filings, and guide prosecution to ensure every asset strengthens the company’s competitive position. I also direct outside counsel in executing these strategies, ensuring alignment from conception through grant. My foundation includes a three-lab postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University across chemical biology, chemical engineering, and bioengineering with 2022 Chemistry Nobel Laureate Prof. Carolyn Bertozzi, Prof. Zhenan Bao, and Prof. Karl Deisseroth, as well as doctoral training at Yale University and UC Berkeley with Prof. Alanna Schepartz. Through the Stanford Ignite program at the Graduate School of Business, I sharpened my expertise in innovation, strategy, and venture creation — equipping me to bridge cutting-edge science with commercialization pathways.
