About Jonathan van Tilburg

As the Department Chair of Human Biology at Maastricht University, I lead a dynamic and diverse team of researchers, educators, and students who are dedicated to advancing critical health topics and improving educational quality in higher education. I have over 20 years of experience in the fields of human and medical genetics, health profession education, and public administration, and I hold a PhD, and an MHPE from Utrecht University and Maastricht University. My passion is to create a collaborative, innovative, and supportive environment where our department can produce cutting-edge research, deliver high-quality education, and foster the personal and professional development of our members. With over 50 publications per year and state-of-the-art facilities like the Stable Isotope Research Centre and Metabolic Research Unit Maastricht, our department is a center of excellence and discovery. I am excited to apply my leadership skills to this inspiring atmosphere and to contribute to the mission and vision of Maastricht University.
