About Jonathan Wittwer

I am a co-founding partner at the law firm of Wittwer Parkin LLP. I have 40 years of legal experience and have been lead counsel in numerous environmental, and land use litigation matters. I also serve as General Counsel to government agency clients, advising them on a host of legal issues from Brown Act to Public Records Act compliance to planning, personnel and contract matters. I have considerable expertise on matters of parcel legality under the Subdivision Map Act, and have trained the California Coastal Commission and its staff in this area of law. Prior to co-founding Wittwer Parkin LLP fifteen years ago, I operated my own law practice from 1996 - Between 1975 and 1996 I was employed at the Santa Cruz County Counsel's office, where I was Chief Deputy County Counsel from 1984-1996. My educational background includes receiving my B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Southern California in 1967 on a full scholarship from NROTC. I also served in the United States Navy from 1967 - 1968. I then received my J.D. in 1973 (Cum Laude) from the University of San Francisco School of Law and was admitted to practice law in California in 1973. I enjoy swimming, opera, and testing my wheelchair trail skills with my wife. I was also a wheelchair basketball ambassador to China in 1987.
