About Jonathan Wyatt

I've taken on roles of increasing responsibility in finance and accounting for both Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Army. I'm passionate about leadership and the budgeting season. I'm a relational leader who believes in continuous improvement. I started my career as a Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army. While my time in field artillery may not have given me a ton of relevant business skills, it did give me leadership experience early in my career. I learned about myself and the kind of leader I wanted to be - hands-on and relational. I finished my career in the Army in the Finance Corps. Here I learned a lot of the basics of finance and accounting for a large organization. I managed the division headquarters budget which included IT, HR, operations, supply chain, and legal. I worked with senior leaders to budget, forecast, and report on their financials. I also worked in areas such as payroll, accounts payable, contracting, and travel. Then I took a role at Lockheed Martin doing program finance on a major defense contract. I performed Earned Value Management, prepared the Integrated Program Management Report (IPMR) and other Contract Data Requirement Lists (CDRLs). I also reported our Orders, Sales, EBIT, and Cash through our internal channels. This role gave me great exposure to the aerospace and defense industry. I also learned about manufacturing and operations finance. Finally, I moved into my current role as an FP & A manager at the corporate headquarters for Lockheed. I primarily support the IT organization but I've also recently started supporting other corporate functions like operations and legal. In this role, my team and I lead our functional customers through the budging cycle. We report on their financial performance throughout the year and advise them on how to meet their targets. I track the cash-flow (indirect method). I manage the capital expenditures as well as the depreciation and amortization schedules. My team also submits the Forward Pricing to the government which shows all our corporate flow down costs (overhead, fringe, and G&A). We also create financial models to support business cases. I'm currently working on my MBA. I feel like now is a good time to further my education with all the changes that are happening in business with AI. I love building and developing a team of high performing professionals. I'm not afraid to roll-up my sleeves and work through problems with my team. I also enjoy training people to the point where they can take ownership over their respective scope.
