About Jonathan Ying
I'm navigating my second year in the Thesis-based Masters program in Kinesiology and Health Science at the University of Waterloo, focusing on Biomechanics. My research focuses on validating DXA and CT for the upper extremity and determining cast material biases in DXA. Due to the prevalence of upper extremity injuries, I aim to develop a standardized DXA protocol for the joints of the upper extremity and quantify fracture mechanics through DXA-DECT correlations and correction factors for cast material biases. My journey in this field is fueled by academic rigour and practical experience, a combination I've cultivated since my undergraduate studies at the same university. During my undergrad, I worked in the Anatomy lab, SINAPs, and SCiLL lab, each experience adding a unique layer to my understanding of human anatomy and biomechanics. Currently, I am embracing the role of a Teaching Assistant in the Anatomy Lab, where I engage with students over the complexities of the Visceral Anatomy of the Thorax, Abdomen, Pelvis and the Regional Anatomy of the Musculoskeletal System.
