About Jonathan Zelaya

Visionary leader with more than 10 years of non-profit management. Through Honduras Compassion Partners (HCP) and Rotary International (RI), Mr. Zelaya works tirelessly to improve the lives of Honduran citizens, enrich the understanding of visiting mission teams, and forge relationships to change the world. Cultivating partnerships throughout Honduras and North America, he has organized, funded, and led over in sustainable life-altering projects, providing services to countless families facing unimaginable hardship. Jonathan’s approach is always to help people develop self-sufficiency for themselves, their loved ones, and their communities. This philosophy of dignity and independence for all has been the driving force behind such initiatives as HCP’s Vocational Training Center. The center’s offerings include: high school diploma programs, vocational English classes, sewing instruction, and more. Future plans under development include basic medical and dental services, as well as career training for welders and electricians. Following Hurricane Iota in November 2020, HCP and the Rotary Club of La Paz supported the Honduran National Fire Department (Bomberos Honduras) in their efforts to rescue thousands of stranded residents in and around the Sula Valley. With formal education and training in project management and journalism, Jonathan has previously worked in television, radio, and print media.
