About Jonathan Zhao

Jonathan Zhao is EY’s Global Insurance Leader, overseeing a team of professionals across 10 Super Regions. He drives global initiatives that help insurers navigate disruption, manage regulatory change, and leverage technology to accelerate transformation and growth. A qualified actuary with over 30 years of experience, Jonathan has held several senior leadership roles at EY. He began as Asia-Pacific Insurance Leader, overseeing integrated teams in more than 20 countries, followed by roles as Asia-Pacific Financial Services Strategy and Transactions Leader and, most recently, Asia-Pacific Financial Services Regional Managing Partner, where he led over professionals across one of the firm’s most diverse regions. Jonathan started his EY journey in Chicago before relocating to Hong Kong, where he built the firm’s market-leading Asia-Pacific Actuarial Services team. Throughout his career, he has advised financial institutions on strategy, M&A, transformation, and risk. In addition to his global sector leadership, Jonathan also serves as Managing Partner for EY’s Hong Kong Financial Services business. In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, he is passionate about using technology as a catalyst for innovation and competitive advantage.
