About Jonathon Abeyta

I love cars. Cars have been a passion for me since I was 3. I graduated UNM 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Formula SAE. I was the Project Manager for the 2017 LOBOmotorsports team, and Interim Project Manager for the 2018 LOBOmotorsports team. I competitively rock-climbed in the USCCA which became the USAC for 10 years beginning at 8 years old. I placed 10th at my first nationals and a high of 6th at the 2008 National Climbing Competition. I placed at nationals in many other years throughout the 10 years. In highschool I learned how to use AutoCad, PTC Creo (Pro-E), and SolidWorks and have enjoyed 3D modeling ever since. I have experience using MATLAB, Adams, ANSYS, and CarSim with the list growing. In high-school I was in the gifted mentorship program. I worked under a graduate student on a robotic Segway project in my Junior year. My senior year I worked under Dr. John Russell of UNM on the FSAE project and helped acquire a system to simulate vehicle dynamics prior to manufacturing that also facilitated driver training.
