About Jonathon Carl

tl;dr: I'm a senior at Williams College who is invested in learning as much as I can. I aim to use the skillset I acquire in mathematics and computer science to (1) help people and (2) solve always had an affinity for building things. When I was six years old, I built the Millennium Falcon with Legos. Now, at twenty-one years old, I'm interested in developing software. Whether it's Legos, Lincoln Logs, machine learning models, or a software application–to build any kind of successful structure–we need smaller, reusable components. I feel that mathematics and computer science provide the foundation to build and drive harmonious interactions between these components.When models and applications are published, most people are in awe of the final product. Many are content with understanding that the Millennium Falcon is an incredibly powerful ship that can serve their needs. My own passion, however, delves deeper. I want to know (1) how and (2) why the Falcon is so powerful. I've always had this inner curiosity. In my three years at Williams so far, this curiosity has been cultivated; I hope it will continue to grow in my final year at Williams. This passion and curiosity has served me well: it has shaped me who I am today.I'm a senior at Williams College. I like to build things. I enjoy diving into the nitty-gritty details of mathematical proofs, machine learning models, and software applications. I value the HOW and WHY. To this end, I see my degree from Williams as much more than a B.A in Mathematics, Computer Science. I'm not one for titles. Instead, my degree is a tool that allows me to demonstrate the skillset I am developing to (1) serve others and (2) solve problems.
