My research focuses on understanding the underlying mechanisms responsible for observed phenomena (well-known or newly-discovered) from a theoretical standpoint, and using this understanding to design/create materials with better performance and durability. These mainly include- Polymers and composites for high performance applications (automotive, aerospace, energy, etc.)- Multiscale analysis of polymeric and inorganic materials at the intersection of chemistry and mechanics - Characterization and design of durable and emerging/novel composites - Degradation and service-life prediction based on transport, reaction, and damage processes - Development of new smart materials and their applications
