Background
About Jonghyun Han
I am a third-year Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering at Washington State University, specializing in advanced catalyst development for hydrogen production and solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). My research focuses on designing and optimizing nickel-based catalysts promoted with barium for ethanol steam reforming to enhance catalytic activity and resist carbon deposition. These catalysts are specifically integrated into SOFC systems to enable direct internal steam reforming of bio-derived ethanol fuels, thereby improving overall cell performance and durability. In parallel, I am also investigating ammonia reforming using highly active Ru-based catalysts for broader SOFC applications. With a strong foundation in heterogeneous catalysis and electrochemical energy conversion, I am committed to advancing sustainable energy technologies by bridging innovative reforming chemistry with next-generation solid oxide fuel cells.
