About Joni Dion

Joan (Joni) Dion has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, serving clients across the United States. She has been involved in overseeing the implementation of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) programs in large multi-hospital systems, developing best practices for revenue-cycle management for a 14-hospital system, and contributing to the design and implementation of an electronic medical record for a healthcare system. Ms. Dion has extensive experience in health information management (HIM) and related fields. She has participated in projects that have included the development of a centralized health information management (HIM) model, coding management and compliance, revenue-cycle team leadership, and accounts receivable days reduction. She has in-depth knowledge of APR-DRG methodology and took part in the Maryland demonstration project before adoption of severity DRGs for reimbursement. Ms. Dion also spent three years as an HIM director at a Saudi Arabian facility that achieved a successful outcome for its first Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (now The Joint Commission) survey.
