About Joni Halonen

I'm a dreamer, an achiever and a civil engineer who got lost inside an architectural firm and found a fulfilling job there. I see BIM changing the whole construction industry from top to bottom, and yearn to be a part of that change. As a solution-focused people person I love working together with colleagues and clients alike. That moment when you put your heads together and find the perfect solution is so rewarding that it always makes me feel like I could go on for a week without needing any other sustenance. The same is true for when I independently devise a way to improve existing workflows or processes in the company. At my current job I'm responsible for the creation and management of Building Information Models in our company. I really love the possibilities BIM opens up and enjoy both learning more about them and teaching new recruits how to utilize the models efficiently. My favorite part of the job is working as BIM coordinator for our projects. Working together with the other designers and their models, making sure it all forms a cohesive whole, is where I feel the true benefits of BIM materialize. Through my education in structural engineering and previous job experience I have developed project management, customer service and organizational skills. I'm also proficient with the following programs: Revit Architecture, Tekla Structures, Solibri, Navisworks, Autocad, Microsoft Office. In my professional future I wish to continue expanding my BIM skills and knowledge. Lately I've been really interested in the possibilites of combining BIM with VR and the practical applications that technology would have. I'm also always looking for new ways to get creative with BIM, whetever it be with the designs or the modeling processess themselves. I'm always excited about making contacts with new people, so feel free to send me a message if you'd like to exchange ideas about the future of BIM and our industry.
