Lead technician for all rodent breeding projects for NIDA scientific director.• Interpret genotyping results for all rodent strains and assign individuals to breeding units.• Direct contact for research investigators using the NIDA Transgenic Breeding Facility.• Accurate inventory count of all rodents and supplies needed for NIDA Transgenic Breeding Facility.• Import/ export of rodents in/ out of the breeding core.• Complete facility supervisor duties when needed.• Organize and perform daily documentation of new pups, PI/ RA’s requests, and genotyping results.• Maintain accurate records of animal transfers to PI/ RA’s experimental housing rooms.• Proficient in the following technical duties for rodents: husbandry; weaning pups/sexing; pair selection for breeding schemes; ear tag identification; accurate record keeping; tail tattooing; tail biopsy; subcutaneous, intraperitoneal and intracardiac injections; FileMaker data entry.• Conduct new hire training and mentoring the breeding assistants, CRT’s, and husbandry staff.• Assist Triad Supervisor and Technical Director with supervisor duties as such, sending AM and PM Daily room reports, observing temperature and humidity in the animal facility with the Continuum system, assists with staff and facility issues and reports issues immediately and sends updates to management about issue throughout the day, conducts supervisor animal facility checks to make sure staff has complete tasks assigned and that no other issues that need to be addressed.
