About Jonny Peterson

As Senior Brand Designer at Gensler, Jonny brings over 10 years of experience in crafting highly-creative story-driven design programs that touch all levels of our clients brand strategy from logos to landmarks. Our clients brand story is at the foundation of every great project—having a clear vision of what makes each project unique is essential to creating powerful design solutions. While working in Los Angels, his creative leadership revitalized the design studio, resulting in a tripling of both size and revenue. His commitment to design excellence built new client relationships, cemented existing ones, and set the standard as new staff were brought on board. During his time in LA he was nominated for the rising designer award, and won multiple awards for the celebrated Hyundai Card Studio Black including winning the IIDA Best of Asia Pacific 2018. Since joining the DC office he has been a valuable resource and design leader, while working back and forth on both coasts. He seamlessly integrates into large firm-wide teams, bringing innovative brand solutions to design challenges. During his time in DC he won the Rethink Dupont competition for Gensler, with a unique sculptural light public art design. After hours, he is a vocal advocate on the important role of branded storytelling in the built environment—a leader in the industry contributing to design panel discussions for AIGA, and volunteering design services to the AIA. He is also member of Dupont Underground (a non-profit experimental art space in Washington DC) contributing design and placemaking services. Prior to Gensler, as Senior Designer at Selbert Perkins Design, Jonny lead the signage and brand efforts for high-profile developments such as the Wilshire Grand Tower in Downtown LA, Gemological Institute of America, and The BahaMar Resort in the Bahamas.
