About Joop Coolen

Joop Coolen is a marine biologist specialised in the ecology of natural reefs, coastal defences, ship wrecks and offshore installations such as oil & gas platforms and wind farms in the North Sea. He has several years of experience as project manager at an environmental protection organisation and as PhD in marine biology. He is a commercial diver experienced in investigating offshore energy installations using scientific and commercial diving techniques. Joop has experience in the management and execution of challenging projects in adverse North Sea conditions. He is competent in the planning of research projects, organisation and execution of field work and laboratory analysis, data analysis and publication of the findings. With a background in management of societal/ecological conflicts and entrepreneurship, Joop is able to visualise the needs of clients and stakeholders. As an applied scientist, Joop likes to change problems in solutions which are beneficial to both industry and ecology.
