About Jordan Austin

A native of West Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Austin graduated from Luther College in 2009 with a degree in early modern European and Middle-Eastern history, and minors in creative writing and music. His dedication and work-ethic were evident early in his educational career when he completed this four-year program in a period of three years. After graduation, he volunteered at the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum cataloguing veteran video interviews and was employed as Field Staff for Senator Chuck Grassley’s 2010 re-election campaign. The twenty-five counties of northeastern Iowa were his territory of responsibility, where he organized volunteers for all campaign-related activities. Mr. Austin has diverse interests and has dedicated a great deal of his time in the past six years to develop those interests while gaining experience in sales and retail management. His employment at Scheels All Sports, Barnes and Noble, and Kyle’s Bikes, provided experience in leadership, customer service, management, communications, and sales. At Nationwide, he learned the insurance business and developed investigative skills relating to the multifaceted elements encompassed by his assigned responsibilities. Mr. Austin’s educational background and these experiences have equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to be a positive contributor in a wide variety of business pursuits. In his leisure time, Mr. Austin is passionate about competitive cycling and dedicates himself to a demanding training regiment. He also thoroughly enjoys travel and the associated cultural experiences, which thus far has included New Zealand, Australia, the South Pacific Islands, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Iceland. Mr. Austin also enjoys creative outlets which are expressed in his love of music, playing the trombone, and creative writing.
