I am currently a high school science teacher in Wyoming. I initially wanted to be a substitute teacher to supplement income when consulting work was slow, but I was quickly hired on as a full-time teacher of record with an emergency teaching permit. Before I was a teacher, I was an independent environmental consultant working remotely with an expertise in debris flows in southern California. When working as a consultant, I help conduct field assessments and perform analyses using programs like ArcGIS. I maintain my FAA license as an sUAS pilot (small drones). I graduated from the Earth and Environmental Sciences department at the University of Iowa in August 2019 where I earned my Ph.D. by studying debris flow initiation in southern California using a combination of field and laboratory methods. I earned my Masters in Secondary Education (Science) from Western Governors University while working as a full-time teacher.
