About Jordan Buchanan

Jordan Buchanan born in Elliot Lake and lived mostly in Northern Ontario. Attended Timmins High and Vocational School, Cambrian College (completing 2-year Associates Degree: Law & Security Administration) and Laurentian University (completing 4-year Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree: Law & Justice). He was a Corporal & member of the Algonquin Regiment for two years in the Canadian Militia (1979 to 1981). He was a member (1997 – 2006) of the Canadian Association of Violent Crime Analysts and a member of the Canadian Association of Police Polygraphists – 2006). Jordan is currently a member of the Garson Lions Club since 1994. He joined Sudbury Regional Police in 1989. Jordan worked in Vancouver at the 2010 Olympics in the Integrated Security Unit. Jordan is involved in Critical Incident Stress Management debriefings since 2001 with the C.I.S.M. Team. He has attended several Critical Incidents in the Sudbury area and in 2002 attended New York to assist with debriefings of NYPD members after 9/11. He maintains his training and interest in this field. Jordan teaches part time since 2014 at C.T.S. College in Sudbury in Police Foundations Program and other Programs (C.S.W. and Addictions Counsellor) teaching Interviewing, report writing and crisis intervention. Jordan has taught for many years for various Police agencies in the area of Behavioural Sciences and Interviewing. Jordan is currently assigned since 2015 as Detective Staff Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division supervising Cybercrime, Forensic Services, Missing Persons, Fraud, High Risk Offenders, General investigations and Major Crime Unit. In his 29 years he has worked for 18 years in CID (Intelligence, ViCLAS, Investigations, Polygraph Unit, Professional Standards Bureau, Sexual Assault Unit & Major Crime). From 1989 to 1994; 2006; and 2009 to 2015, Jordan worked in the Uniform Division as a Uniform Patrol Officer, Community Based Policing Officer, Patrol Sergeant and Platoon Staff Sergeant.
