About Jordan Egger

My college career, like that of my peers, was consumed by a worldwide pandemic. I decided to make the most of this time. I took on three separate internships, worked with the Geneseo School of Business Instagram Team, played club soccer, and was employed as a part-time nanny. When my first attempt at a semester abroad was cancelled, I pulled out a map of the United States of America and planned a five-week, trek across the country. My travel partner and I were able to explore ten different states. We visited Mount Rushmore, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, The Black Hills, Yellowstone, The Coral Pink Sand Dunes of Utah, The Grand Canyon, and the Grand Tetons. I learned that food in the Southwest is insanely delicious, sleeping in a yurt can be quite cold, and if you don’t want Buffalo to tip your car over, you should let them lick the salt off it! I completed the courses for my degree during the 2021 Fall semester in the hope that I would be able to study abroad during my final semester. Hard work paid off. I moved to Florence, Italy, for the 2022 Spring semester. There I spent 11 weeks studying at Florence University of the Arts and immersing myself in Italian culture. It was an unforgettable experience, where I stepped out of my comfort zone and learned first and foremost that I could successfully live on my own internationally (in this case, in an apartment on the Via Palestro, 11 among the locals). Other highlights included learning about the history of the great city of Florence through weekly neighborhood tours; visiting many of the world’s greatest masterpieces, including Michelangelo’s David in the Galleria dell ’Accademia Museum; gaining a greater appreciation for Italian wines and culinary; and marveling at the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence built in 1345 that crosses the Arno River and during World War II, was the only bridge spared from destruction by the retreating German army. Upon my return to the United States, I graduated from Geneso in May of 2022 and am eager to begin my next journey.
