Background
About Jordan Friedman
I'm a B.S. Mechanical Engineering student at MSOE, expected to graduate in December of 2028. I have diverse individual and team-based project experience, and I'm a member of Formula Hybrid and Midnight Robots devoting 6 hours a week with a full academic schedule. Skills include MATLAB, SOLIDWORKS, Fusion 360, 3D Printing, PLC Programming, Ladder Logic, MS Office, and the Adobe Suite. Ever since I was young, I have always loved tinkering with things, whether it be building Lego sets or trying to dismantle the TV. Ultimately, it was my mother who set me down the path of engineering; She was a semi-professional woodworker and taught me her trade from a very young age. Eventually, her woodshop became my woodshop and I began working on various projects of my own. I discovered MSOE while taking a certificate in Mechatronics Technology at College of Lake County. In that program I met one of the best professors I think I will ever come across, who happened to be a graduate from MSOE. After looking into MSOE more, it was clear almost immediately how great of a fit it would be for me, from the small class sizes to the emphasis on hands on learning, it was perfectly suited for my learning style. Since then, I have found the school to be incredibly challenging but extremely rewarding. Although early in my college career, I have already had the opportunity to apply so many various Mechanical Engineering Principles both in and out of the classroom. I am a proud member of Midnight Robotics and Formula Hybrid's Powertrain Team. As a member of midnight robotics, I am currently building a beetleweight battlebot which I will be able to bring to various competitions and compete with. As a member of Formula Hybrid's Powertrain Team, I am currently working on three projects. I am leading a team to redesign our current radiator cap, then working on a team to research new engines for next year's car, and finally I am on a team which aims to redesign the exterior housing for our differential. These two experiences have given me ample opportunity to apply Mechanical Engineering Principles as well as develop strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
