About Jordan Hay

I perform public accounting and business services. My background also includes biology and engineering. During my active research and teaching phase as a plant scientist, I taught college biology and I did quantitative modeling of biochemical, physiological, and developmental processes in plants. As an Assistant Biochemist / Research Associate in the Plant Sciences group at Brookhaven National Laboratory I contributed to research projects on the production of chemicals and fuels from renewable resources. My role was focused on computational modeling and simulation of developing oilseed metabolism. Accomplishments included reconstructing large metabolic networks, developing knowledge databases, using scientific programming to predict non-intuitive strategies for biomass improvement, and integrating diverse 'omics data sets to elucidate metabolic flux and control. As a Department of Energy mentor and Howard Hughes Medical Institute postdoctoral teaching fellow, I served as a mentor for summer internship programs. As an Adjunct Assistant Professor / Adjunct Instructor at Suffolk County Community College I taught introductory biology courses for pre‐professional majors.
