Background
About Jordan Nus
I am currently a Junior at IUPUI studying biology and chemistry with the intention of entering the medical field. As an undergraduate at IUPUI, I have not only had the pleasure of acquainting those of diverse backgrounds, but I have also had a multitude of opportunities as a woman in the STEM field. I am currently in the MURI Program studying the bioaccumulation of lead in the urban regions of Indianapolis, with the hope of providing detailed lead concentration reports for park managers. Prior to this, I was a research intern through IU School of Medicine studying cancer growth and development, where I had my research published in the FASEB Journal. I have gained much experience as a student leader while at IUPUI from leading classes in the study of organic chemistry and second-year biology, to being an academic tutor for calculus. Not only do I support IUPUI through peer-led academia, I also represent my university through school spirit. In May 2022, I received the President title for the global health organization, VIDA Health Partnerships, standing for Volunteer Initiatives Domestic and Abroad. I also received the title as Co-President of the IUPUI Student Foundation. My time at IUPUI has taught me to pursue opportunities wherever they may rise, as gaining experience in any form is always necessary and can offer an eye-opening experience. For over one year I have been employed at Eskenazi Health through ScribeAmerica, working in the Emergency Department. Prior to obtaining this position I was not aware of what urban medicine entailed or how prevalent socioeconomics was in the medical field. However, this position has offered me insight as to how physicians in EM and trauma have an impact on those in need.
