About Jordan Reiff

Since 2023, I have been working as an English teacher at University of Chicago Charter High School Woodlawn. In that position, I teach 10th-grade English, as well as film studies, and AP Language and Composition. In collaboration with administrators, I plan and execute my own curriculum, including writing lesson plans, learning objectives, and assessments. Among other responsibilities, I maintain communication with families, offer individual tutoring, and work with the 10th-grade team of teachers to collect data and monitor the class's progress. In 2025, I earned my master's degree at Saint Xavier University in Secondary English Education, as well as my Professional Educator License. Through Saint Xavier's alternate licensure program, I was able to transition into a teaching career that I look forward to continuing. Before working at Woodlawn, I was a program manager and educator with Right At School, where I managed recess and afterschool enrichment programs for middle and elementary schools. I worked with teachers, families, and administration, and saw parts of the education industry, while refining my skills as an instructor working with students. Other than education, I have a background in theatre and creative writing. In 2013, I earned my undergraduate degree in theatre at Ithaca College. I worked in literary offices of non-profit theatre companies, in research and new play development. In 2018, I co-wrote and directed an audio drama podcast,'The Record,' produced by Ear Epic Studios. I also worked in hospitality as a bartender, server, caterer, and manager for over five years. I was fortunate enough to work in environments from small neighborhood restaurants to sports bars to fine dining. I learned about food, drinks, and people, along with business, service, sales, and communication. In my free time, I can often be found biking, cooking, listening to a podcast, or watching classic basketball games.
