About Jordan Schmitzer

My greatest strength is my ability to authentically connect with people. I have relationships with my students and their families long after they leave my classroom. My students know, above all else, that they are loved.I have almost 100% success rate at engaging my students with literature. I am able to find books that students will actually read and enjoy — even the most reluctant readers have left my room having found a book that they love. I consider this my superpower.Each year, I set a goal to move the majority of my struggling readers (2 or more grade levels below their current grade level) to proficiency in reading. I have met this goal every year for the last 8 years.I attribute my success to my background in Sales. There is no sale more difficult than that of a teacher trying to convince reluctant readers to give books another chance.The day I turned 16, I started in retail as a sales associate. Over the next 4 years, I was promoted several times until I reached assistant store manager. I was ranked “best” (the top tier of performance based on sales, conversion, and customer experience) every quarter until I retired to pursue education.
