About Jordan Sullivan

I proudly identify as a trans man. I am currently employed as SOGIECE/CP Prevention & Survivor Support Coordinator at the Community Based Research Centre in Toronto. I was coordinator of the "SOGIECE/CT Survivor Support Project"- a 2021-2022 community-based research project led by SOGIECE/CT survivors for survivors. I am a survivor of religious-based converion "therapy" practices. Through a survey, focus groups, and interviews, we listened to 270 survivors who have been harmed to assess support needed by survivors and work with Canadian partners to deliver the supports needed to recover. I currently work with CBRC colleagues on a number of SOGIECE/CP projects related to research, knowledge translation, and survivor support. My past 20 year employment at The United Church of Canada’s General Council Office included a variety of roles ranging from Lead staff for LGBTQIA2S+ Justice in Canada, and Poverty in Canada, to Partnership Animator for Outdoor Ministries, Campus Ministries, and Community Ministries, to Assistant to Executive, and Program Assistant to Racial Justice and Gender Justice work, as well as Faith Formation for all Ages. Previous jobs include: Acting Coordinator, Public Education Program and Public Education Assistant (1988-1997) for the Canadian Mental Health Association, Durham Branch; Elementary school teacher in Seventh-day Adventist private church schools (including student teaching for 6 months on the island of Ebeye in the Marshall Islands, Micronesia). In I earned my Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies.
