About Jordan Wall

Constant learning opportunities and collaboration with others to solve complex problems are why I chose an engineering career. The experience I’ve gained from undergraduate positions with CPB Contractors and Northrop Grumman has especially cemented just how satisfying it is to develop innovative solutions to achieve shared success. My small contributions in these industry leading companies has involved diverse duties. These include coordinating the movement of reinforcement steel between sites, the installation of security monitors, and designing aircraft structural repairs. In addition, QA, progression tracking, and reviewing technical drawings have given me greater insight into the varied responsibilities of an engineering role. There’s an energy in being part of large multifaceted teams that is exciting. Through my work with truck drivers, crane operators, dogmen, aircraft technicians and engineers alike, I have achieved a greater understanding of the importance of clear communication so that a job gets done in a safe and timely fashion. I’ve been lucky to have great mentors along the way that have taught me to ask questions when something isn’t adding up and how attention to detail can save a lot of time, money and effort. I’ve also enjoyed the opportunity to see how the theory I’m studying at uni is put into practice. Learning how to look at a task in an analytical way is something that has made adapting to different roles so much easier. Unexpectedly, skills I’d learnt from committing years to competing in swimming, triathlon and athletics have also made their way into my life today. The ability to motivate myself, set and execute goals, and reflect on performance to improve my skills will always be relevant. Whether it’s through engineering tasks or giving back to the community via activities such as the Red Shield Appeal for the Salvos, it is immensely rewarding seeing the work I do have a real impact. I’m excited to continue leveraging and building on the skills I’ve developed to bring the best out in my self and enable others to do the same.
