About Jorg Heukelbach

Prof. Dr. Jorg Heukelbach (MD DTMPH MScIH PhD) is an internationally renowned public health professional and infectious disease epidemiologist. He holds a Professor in Public Health/Epidemiology and has ample project experience with health projects, mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa, South America (with focus on Brazil), and Central Asia. His professional country experience includes Algeria, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Congo (DRC), East Timor, Ethiopia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Philippines, Portugal, São Tomé & Príncipe, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tuvalu, Uruguay, USA, and Uzbekistan. Jorg’s teaching skills include seminars and lectures at undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervision of postgraduate students, invited lectures, congress presentations, and health systems research workshops, with focus on Infectious Diseases, Neglected Tropical Diseases, Public Health, Sustainable Disease Control, Research Methods, Scientific Writing, and Epidemiology. Jorg is peer reviewer for more than 80 scientific journals, including top leading journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet. He is also member of editorial boards and editor of scientific journals and books.
