About Jorge Saavedra

Jorge is a professional, with more than 10 years of experience, in the power and transmission sector, with a focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency and electromobility projects. He is currently working at AFRY Latin America - Energy Division as Group Leader Renewable Energy. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating and leading the RE team from Chile and Peru to perform design engineering, technical and commercial/market reports including due diligences. Additionally, he has led and participated in the technical and market advisory phase in several M&A transactions in Latin America, including mostly renewable assets. Jorge is a multitasking professional, actively involved in business development while maintaining a strong ambition to grow the team and expand the company through high quality projects. He is also supporting the general management of the Chile office, ensuring strategic growth and operational excellence. Before joining AFRY, he worked in a consulting company providing technical, economic and strategic assistance in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change projects worldwide. Jorge also worked as a PV design engineer at Solcor Chile for a year. Additionally, he has previous experience as an intern/trainee in various electrical engineering-related companies. He holds a degree in Civil Electrical Engineering (equivalent to Master Engineering) from Federico Santa Maria Technical University, where he conducted his thesis on business models and optimum sizing for a hybrid PV and BESS project. Jorge has earned two Higher Education Diplomas in Energy Markets and Project Management from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, both awarded with academic excellence. Additionally, he holds several professional certificates in energy topics from some of the most prestigious universities (Harvard, TU Delft and Denmark TU, UTFSM, and PUC). He is fluent in Spanish (native) and English. He has worked on projects in the following countries: Peru, Colombia, Honduras, Panama, Chile, Brazil, Sweden, Switzerland, Paraguay, Argentina, Spain, Canada, Russia, Thailand, Guinea Ecuatorial, Jamaica, El Salvador, Barbados among others.
