Background
About Jose Ossa
The motivation for my desire to attend college derives from my aspirations to continue my passionate pursuits of the visual arts with the attainment of a bachelor’s degree. The longevity of the last two years has gravitated my focus predominantly on completing my general education prerequisite courses for transfer. After some time, during my enrollment at East Los Angeles College, I discovered my indelible affinity for the visual arts, specifically the institutions of the arts revolving around photography and film-making. Respectively, I would equate the discovery of my aspirations in photography towards Professor Smith, in which our stewardship began during the Spring 2023 semester. Throughout the course, I’ve participated in multiple assignments that started to evolve my artistic discography. To demonstrate upon completing an assignment based on self-portraiture. To continue, Professor Smith, with her reaffirmations, advised my consideration for potentially submitting my photographs for the New Voices: The 2024 ELAC Juried Student Art Exhibition. The exhibition jury accepted my work into the museum.Additionally, in my available time, I like to dedicate a substantial amount of time towards listening to music. Notably, some of my favorite artists are Joy Division, New Order, The Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell, The Psychedelic Furs, The Smiths, Talking Head, Culture Club, Prince, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Velvet Underground, Klaus Nomi, Gil Scott-Heron, Nina Simone, Curtis Mayfield and so on.Spotify Playlist - The Anthologyhttps://open.spotify.com/playlist/7pf5PtJtQ2pV3nwIzq8Cbq?si=a112fb562a0742f0
