About Josef Wagner

Having spent the entirety of my career in the life science research field, I have established a resounding career of over 16 years spanning across medical biotechnology, biology and genetics, leading projects that have led to new discoveries, publications and awareness to a wide range of topics in these fields. Beginning my career in wet lab science to my current role as a computational biologist/data scientist has placed me in a unique position to troubleshoot scientific problems from initial assessment to conclusion, and continually honing my skills in analysis, problem solving and utilisation of quality scientific data. My key qualities include my ability to design and implement changes that optimise efficiencies and data accuracy, leading cross-functional teams to drive project continuity, and providing as a Subject Matter Expert on specialised areas such as microbiome, virome, and metagenomics sequences and multi-omics datasets including metagenomic, proteomics and metabolomics. I hold skills that have been naturally progressive for me, such as planning and delivering large-scale scientific projects, identifying and mitigating gaps within large datasets, and working collaboratively across all levels.
