About Joseph Argus
After having graduated with a master’s degree in environmental sciences and working on an avocado orchard for two years - I am now pursing a career in the mining industry. I have been working as a field assistant at IGO since 2023 and am aiming to eventually transition towards an environmental role. As an exploration field assistant I've gained experience logging and processing core, rehabilitation, overseeing and coordinating administrative tasks including procurement, dispatch, inductions, inspections and mediating between contractor groups and IGO management. During my role as a field assistant I have reached out to our environmental department and received exposure to exploration environmental responsibilities including heritage, land clearing, rehabilitation, acquiring permits, as well as flora and fauna surveying. I have also received exposure to mine-site environmental work including bioremidiation, monitoring of drinking water, ground water, dewatering and producing various environmental reports.
