About Joseph Bates

I have recently completed my studies at Tapton school sixth form successfully achieving my A levels in Psychology, Geography, and Product design. During my six years at Tapton school I have always been praised for my attitude to learning and for being a polite, well-mannered student. I am confident and get along with people easily.During the last two festive seasons I have been employed by Marks and Spencer as a customer assistant working across the men’s, women’s and food departments. Essential qualities needed for the role of customer assistants are self-motivation, good team player and excellent communication skills. During my time at Marks and Spencer I was nominated by the commercial manager for a spotlight award for providing outstanding customer service.I participated in the Duke and Edinburgh Awards (bronze and gold), I helped guide my group using a map, compass and navigational skills. These skills I learnt as an active member of Fulwood Scout Group. During my four years at scouts I also developed multiple life skills including team building, survival techniques and effective group coordination. I also spent time as a young leader, I helped encourage participation of the younger boys, this further developed my understanding of responsibility and team work. I am always willing to listen to new ideas and develop new skills and ways of working. I believe I am a friendly, motivated, reliable and thoughtful person. I always try to help people whenever they have a problem and need help. I have excellent attendance and punctuality record throughout my time at Tapton school. I have also volunteered at the local parkrun for over 12 months where at each week my main responsibility was time keeper where I was solely responsible for the capture of race times for well over 500 runners each week.
