About Joseph Combs

Dr. Joseph Combs is the Dean of the Division of Workforce Training at Walters State Community College. Responsibilities: Design, develop and deliver strategic and multi-discipline customized executive education systems encompassing a ten state region. Dr. Combs division is the only continuing education division in Tennessee to win the level one award from the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (state-level counterpart of the national Baldrige Performance Excellence Program). I strive to create a professional relationship with C-Suite of executives and upper management to become a part of their team by focusing on their needs, as opposed to our deliverables. Our area of expertise includes all non-degree workforce development / Executive Education programs designed specifically to meet and exceed the behavioral modification desired by corporate executives. We conduct a formal needs analysis for our client companies to contrast and compare their needs with valid training solutions. We have experienced incredible success since I became the dean. Our revenue has increased 400%. We are number one in the state for workforce training hours delivered over the past ten years. I teach all management, leadership, communication skills, team-building, strategic planning, and “Honors Leadership” classes. I have written and been awarded grants for “Health Information technology” and the TN Governor’s “LEAP” Grant.
