About Joseph Crane

When I was a child I dreamed about one day owning an ice cream van, roaming the roads selling ices and treats to queues of drooling customers on hot summer days. I realised that having such a sweet tooth myself I would end up eating into my own profits, literally, and this would probably not be the best career choice for me (or my waistband either!). I knew that I wanted a role where I could influence people, make a difference and obtain a real sense of achievement everyday I clock in for work. Following college where I obtained my A-Levels, I worked at Natwest Bank as a customer service advisor. Here I was able to put my interpersonal skills to good use, building excellent relationships with my colleagues and customers alike. I was part of the most successful team in the South of England in terms of sales targets and objectives but found that I wanted to make more of a personal difference. I found myself applying for a Laboratory Technician role in a Microbiology Lab. This put me on a completely different career path but involved lots of work in the local community, collecting and testing microbiological samples. I built up some amazing relationships with local businesses and health authorities and worked my way up very quickly to supervisor level where I was responsible for my own team of people and the training and development of junior staff. Life events meant that a relocation was needed. I took on a new role of Senior Production Technician in a Pharmaceutical Production Plant. My previous experience served me well and I was quickly able to expand on this in my new role. Manufacturing life saving pharmaceuticals really gave me the sense of pride and achievement I love and knowing that what I do on a day to basis is saving lives is so rewarding. Just as in my previous role, I worked my way up to Supervisor level where I now run my own shift team, being responsible for staff, multi-million pound equipment and products. I am ambitious, enjoy pushing myself and growing as a person. I like to learn new tasks, methods and procedures and enjoy adding to my knowledge and experience as much as possible.
