About Joseph Davids

I am an attorney with experience in criminal, civil, international and European law with a focus on issues of applicable law and jurisdiction. Before joining the UN, my practice primarily consisted of appellate proceedings and consultations on international transactions, with a focus on cross-border settlements and contracts. I was frequently requested to consult on the application of foreign law, in particular from the Middle East, United States, Caribbean and Europe. In relation to my current role, I over eight years of combined legal and policy experience in the public sector and administrative investigation at the international level. My investigative work, with cases all over the world, has included leading investigation teams reviewing allegations of retaliation, harassment, sexual exploitation and abuse, and fraud by personnel and third party contractors and implementing partners at FAO. I have also played a central role in policy work both substantive (e.g, policy on whistleblower protection) and procedural (e.g, guidelines and standard operating procedures).
