About Joseph Ekstrom

Joe Ekstrom is Vice President and Employee Benefits Practice Leader at The Campbell Group. Joe has more than 25 years of industry experience. Prior to joining The Campbell Group, Joe served as senior vice president and practice leader of the employee benefits department for Marsh USA Inc.’s Grand Rapids office, providing advice to clients on a wide range of employee benefit issues. Joe’s responsibilities with The Campbell Group include leadership of the employee benefits practice and assisting clients with plan design funding analysis, legal compliance issues, and employee communication. Joe has extensive experience in a managing a variety of projects with large and mid-sized employers including benefit strategy development, insurance carrier and plan administrator evaluation, vendor and managed care renewal negotiations, managed care network evaluation, health plan utilization analysis, flexible plan design and administration, health plan benefit design issues influencing utilization patterns, merger and acquisition transitions and employee communications. Joe is a native of Detroit and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wayne State University. He has obtained both the Chartered Life Underwriter and Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designations. He and his wife, Maryellen have four children and reside in Grand Rapids. They enjoy golf, tennis and other outdoor activities in their spare time.
